What an amazing surprise – a book about a runner and I’m in it! I won’t lie. I skipped ahead to read that chapter immediately and I was moved beyond words. If the rest of this book is anything like what I read there, this may become a chapter-a-day devotional for me and Steve’s journey will surely intersect with mine once again. In 2012, adventurer and ultra runner Steve Cannon was on the 27th day of his 40 day run around Lake Michigan to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. I was drinking coffee and contemplating a run myself, when I realized from his social updates that he was most likely about to come through my area – specifically, he’d be running on the path just down the hill from my house. Coffee forgotten, I hit the trail and the rest is history. Quite literally. Steve raised over $30,000 towards the fight for cancer, and part of the proceeds from the book sales are going to charity.
