Well – it has been a while since I have put brush to canvas, and it’s been since NEVER that I’ve painted in front of people (well, ok – maybe college), so I had to get in a little rehearsal before tomorrow night’s WIMA fest. I’m kind of freaked out about it so I’m experimenting with impasto gel to see how it works with acrylics and on different surfaces. My frustration with acrylic is the opaque quality. The painting above is on a clear CD case, just to get some ideas on how impasto gel changes the quality of the paint. Waiting for it to dry.
I’ve got a board going with pages of an old book and I do want to paint over that this evening and see the results. I’ve also scraped an old painting off a gesso board and may use that. So many options! Any recommendations?
