Wrestling Bears, Painting Summer and Album Update

Angela Josephine with Mom
Posted by Angela Josephine Category: Art, News

What a winter! I am willing to bet that hell has indeed, frozen over.  I’ve had a wrestling match with not one, but two nasty illnesses back-to-back and will be thankful to get on with spring!  Anyone else?

I did manage to make the 4 hour trip to the Upper Peninsula without incident last week to visit my Mom (87).  She recently wrestled a bear (it is the U.P. after all) and seems to have fractured her shoulder in the process.  (You should see the bear!)

With temps in the single digits, we stayed close to home watching the Olympics, playing Bananagrams and even taking a day to paint.   Mom hasn’t done this in years and we both were experimenting.  I like her imagined landscape – particularly because it is green!  Let’s hope we don’t have to leave that to the imagination much longer.

My painting is done on a sheet of Plexiglas front and back, letting the color show through.  I used a photo that my husband took at our niece’s wedding.  He captured something dynamic and I wanted to interpret that.  What do you think?

Mom loves it – but Mom tends to love anything I do.  I’m learning how to work on this new surface and might give this painting another go.

The album is still in process!  Joe and I are doing something pretty amazing to celebrate our 25 year Anniversary (no give-aways, but let’s just say we are going on an adventure!)  After that, I’ll be back in the studio this spring and hope to have a completed album by the beginning of June!  (Could someone please dial up summer and remind her that she is due back in June as well?)  While the delays aren’t ideal, I’m hopeful for what’s to come and thankful for your continued encouragement and support.

  1. Hi Auntie,

So glad you had a great time in the UP. Your painting is beautiful. I can’t wait to hear about your adventure. Tell Uncle Joe I say hi.

    Love you,
    Jessi
